Free Concert Series Launches This Friday in Downtown Irving

A new free concert series has begun in downtown Irving.

On Stage at Heritage kicked off with Texas-based singer Chaz Marie, whose music blends country, blues, R&B and rock and roll.

Concerts will be every second Friday of the month through September. The performances aim to draw visitors to the city’s downtown, which is in the middle of a long-awaited facelift.

Heritage Park recently got a new stage and large LED screen for movie nights. Other updates include the addition of a century-old water tower, restoration of an antique caboose on display and renovation of an old library building.

The park intends to bring vibrancy to downtown while honoring the city’s past, said Joe Moses, director of Irving’s parks and recreation department.
