Irving families will be able to track their children’s school buses this year through an app.
Irving ISD is launching Smart Tag, a software program that provides real-time location information, ridership activity and alerts to parents and guardians.
On its website, Smart Tag says it improves safety, security, visibility and communications for school bus transportation. The company is based in Georgetown, a suburb of Austin.
Parents and guardians can sign up to receive alerts when their child’s school bus arrives at stops in the morning and afternoon, can view their child’s riding history and can check a live map that tracks the bus’s route.
Families can sign up online for Smart Tag.
