A year ago, Momentum Dance Company in Irving was preparing for its annual spring show when COVID-19 shut down production.

This weekend, the dance company will return to the stage with United We Dance, a spring show that blends classical ballet, contemporary jazz, modern dance, folkloric dance and lyrical tap.

Hayley Grafflin, the company’s new seasonal art director, said Momentum and the entire performing arts community faced an uncertain future last year.

“This is going to be an amazing and uplifting show full of hope and joy for the future, post-pandemic,” Grafflin said. “It is so important for us to return to live performances, as it helps promote fine arts in our community, and gives dancers an opportunity to do what we love — perform.”

Roughly 30 dancers from across North Texas will perform in United We Dance. Dancers are adults and children as young as 10.

Shows are at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Irving Arts Center, 3333 N. MacArthur Blvd. People can purchase tickets through the arts center website. The performance will follow social distancing measures.
