The Chamber’s value as a resource for entrepreneurs, innovators and small businesses is due in great part by its ability to connect investors with exceptional resources like Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE), a nonprofit organization that provides free business counseling to area business owners and Chamber investors.
SCORE has assisted in the successful start-up of more than fifty businesses in Irving-Las Colinas. Its volunteer business counselors mentor entrepreneurs and small business owners in the areas of business planning, lead generation and vendor referrals.
Council Counselors are successful executives and business owners themselves who provide direction regarding proposed or existing business ventures. The network of advisors is comprised of more than 11,000 volunteers in several hundred chapters throughout the United States who have been providing business consulting to entrepreneurs and small business owners for nearly 50 years.
The counseling is confidential and every effort is made to match a client’s needs with a counselor who is experienced in a comparable line of business but, because they are not financially or personally involved in your business, these volunteers bring a fresh perspective to your problems.
SCORE services are free or very low cost with small fee to cover the cost of workbooks and materials. There are also Saturday workshops. Call the Chamber at (214) 217-8484 for details.
