ShareTank
The Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the City of Irving, Irving Convention & Visitors Bureau, Irving Arts Center, University of Dallas, Irving Healthcare Foundation and Philanthropology, L.L.C., launched ShareTank in 2016.
Irving’s Share Tank is a unique opportunity for these City departments and Chamber investors to support local nonprofits and protect the vital services they provide to individuals and the community at large such as aiding the homeless, tutoring and caring for our students, assisting veterans, and rescuing animals to promoting arts and culture.
Nonprofit organizations can attend ShareTank’s four half-day sessions where they learn how to make a pitch to funders, get their boards more involved in their mission, create good audit practices, and build relationships with the Irving business community. Classes also prepare participants for Pitch Day during which they can present their case for financial support to a group of executives who decide which organizations they will fund.
In 2017, we continued with strong participation with a combined $30,000 awarded to the 16 nonprofits. In 2018, $38,000 went to 17 nonprofit entities and we anticipate that fund will grow for our 2019 program, this Fall.
Beyond the dollars, ShareTank provides charitable organizations around the city an opportunity to come together, learn about each other, collaborate and form partnerships to better serve their constituencies.
