GOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS

Mission: To strengthen relationships with legislators, develop and advocate local, state and national public policy that is supportive of the greater Irving-Las Colinas businesses and consumers.

Committee Goals / Initiatives:

  • Monitor proposed legislation to ensure pro-business agenda
  • Provide Board of Directors and Members with an update on legislation impacting businesses
  • Assist Transportation Committee with Chamber positions/Board resolutions
  • Advocate with ICVB for an Entertainment Overlay District concept/process
  • Provide assistance with annual Texas Transportation Summit
  • Maintain a database to easily mobilize Chamber volunteers to contact elected officials regarding issues/pending legislation that impacts local businesses.
  • Educate businesses about government process and how to influence decision-making process
