Shortly after Darden Restaurants Inc. (NYSE: DRI) decided to shutter Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen’s corporate headquarters at Cypress Waters, another North Texas restaurant group snapped up the facility.

Del Frisco’s Restaurant Group Inc. (Nasdaq: DFRG), along with Cypress Waters developer Dallas-based Billingsley Co., announced Wednesday the Southlake-based steakhouse concept would move all of its 58 restaurant support center employees into the facility at 2900 Ranch Trail in Irving by the end of this November.

“This is an incredible opportunity to acquire a space that aligns with the growth plans for Del Frisco’s Restaurant Group,” said CEO Norman Abdallah, in a statement.

“The quality of the space, large test kitchen, and proximity to our current office were all important factors in our decision,” he added.

The 31,452-square-foot facility, which sits next to Irving-based 7-Eleven Inc. and CoreLogic, was built three years ago specifically for Cheddar’s by Billingsley Co.

That customized development for a restaurant user made it the perfect place for Del Frisco’s to set up operations, said Lucy Burns, a partner at the Dallas-based development firm.

“Cheddar’s was our first office tenant at Cypress Waters,” she added. “We are sad to see them go, but thrilled to have Del Frisco’s join the Cypress Waters community.”

Del Frisco’s has been growing its North Texas eateries, with its latest opening up in Plano’s Legacy West. Earlier this year, the eatery brought in a new CFO from Yum! brands to help it financially grow.

The steakhouse concept has recently begun trying a new franchising strategy to assist with its expansion plans.
