Financial technology firm Blucora will move its headquarters from Bellevue, Wash. to Irving with plans to open up almost 50 new jobs in the area over the next year.
The firm provides online tax preparation for consumers and support to tax professionals. Blucora already has more than 300 employees in the area but is planning to build out and make over its Irving office.
Blucora CEO John Clendening said the growth in the Dallas area encouraged executives to move, along with the easier time zone, international airport, and local feeder schools from which they could recruit talent. The firm generates about $450 million in revenue, and Clendening said the move will also help them attract more investors.
“I do think being in Dallas will enable to get us more connected in the local investment company,” Clendening said.
The company originally operated the first online yellow pages, Infospace, but divested the site as it moved into financial services about three years ago.
Blucora will finalize its move in June. A company spokesman said the firm has received no financial incentives from the state to move yet.
