S.H. 183 Traffic - Irving Texas

Ramp closures, traffic lane switches and bridge work are expected to increase dramatically along the S.H. 183 corridor within the next few weeks. Those who live and work in the City of Irving, as well as visitors, are reminded they can obtain the latest construction news from the DriveMidtown.com website’s Closures and Traffic Changes page

Notable S.H. 183 construction work includes:

  • A long-term closure of the westbound S.H. 183 off-ramp to Carl Road will begin 10 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 6.
  • Short duration closures of all mainlines of east- and westbound S.H. 183 near MacArthur Boulevard 11 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 4 to 6 a.m., Friday, Aug. 5. Closures will be a maximum of 15 minutes each time. Expect several closures through the night.
  • Full closure of north- and southbound MacArthur Boulevard at S.H. 183 from 9 p.m. Friday, July 22 to 9 p.m., Saturday, July 23. Motorists are advised to use O’Connor Road or Story Road as alternates.
  • Tom Braniff Drive at the westbound S.H. 183 frontage Road will be closed through 5 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 6.
The Midtown Express project encompasses road reconstruction on S.H. 114, S.H. 183 and Loop 12 – all major roads that affect Irving traffic. This $847 million project is scheduled to reach substantial completion in 2018.SouthGate Constructors, TxDOT’s contractor for the Midtown Express project, offers a free email notification service for emergency closures and traffic alerts, as well as a weekly notification of upcoming working at the DriveMidtown.com website.
