Irving’s CHRISTUS Health has acquired the operations of the Hopkins County Hospital District’s safety net hospital in Sulphur Springs, located about 80 miles northeast of Dallas.
The nonprofit, global health system finalized the deal this week with the district and announced it on Friday. Christus will handle the management and operations of the hospital, which will be renamed Christ Mother Frances Hospital-Sulphur Springs. The clinics will be rebranded Christus Trinity Clinic-Sulphur Springs and Emory. The system had vowed to march into new markets in East Texas with its acquisition of Tyler’s Trinity Mother Frances earlier this year.
The formation of CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System which we announced earlier this month in Tyler means expanded access to award–winning, quality care,” read a statement from CEO Ernie Sadau. “We’re so very fortunate to have CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances-Sulphur Springs and clinics become part of the CHRISTUS family.”
Christus owns 51 percent of the new organization, Christus Hopkins Health Alliance, while Hopkins will retain 49 percent.
