The Irving ISD Athletic Department, in conjunction with the Greater Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce, ESPN and Toyota of Irving, recognized Alli Jones of Nimitz High School, as the February One Irving Scholar Athlete of the Month.

Jones, a senior, is a three-year starter on the varsity softball team and is a member of the Viking Crew. She takes advanced classes in English, math, science and history, and is involved in her community, volunteering at Irving Cares Food Bank for several years and participating in March for Respect and the Teddy bear drive.

Athletically, Jones led the 2014-2015 softball team in batting average, with a .571 in district and .514 overall and was named Offensive Player of the Year and academic all-district. She leads the teams with 14 doubles, 12 RBIs and 21 runs scored.
