Robert H. Power passed away February 1, 2016. Power’s was a staple in the Irving-Las Colinas Community. A graduate of North Texas State University and Southern Methodist University School of Law, he served as Assistant District Attorney for Dallas County for several years then established a private law practice in Irving.
He served on the Irving City Council and then Mayor from 1963 to 1971. He was dedicated to public service, involved in the North Central Texas Council of Governments, North Texas Commission, the Irving Bar Association, Dallas Area Rapid Transit and the Greater Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce. He served as Board Chairman 1971 to 1972.
Powers served as the attorney for the Dallas Cowboys and led the effort to pass the bond election that funded construction of Texas Stadium. He was also instrumental in the development of the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport and annexing Bear Creek to Irving.
