Boxes waiting to be distributed at Dayspring Family Church in Irving.

Dayspring Family Church gave back lots for Thanksgiving. Church staffers had expected to distribute food boxes to 2,000 families before Thanksgiving. Instead they had enough food to distribute boxes to 2,200 families. In each box, there was enough food to feed a family of seven for a week.

The Thanksgiving Food Give Away was a vision that Pastor Sonjia B. Dickerson shared with her husband, Bishop Keith Dickerson, when they started the Church in 1994. That year, five families received food boxes.

Dayspring Family Church is an official North Texas Food Bank facility. It provides food for those in need on a weekly basis. The church also has a Summer Feeding Program, in which staffers deliver 350 meals per day (17,500 meals in a 10-week period) to children in Irving and Hurst in low income areas.

The church is at 618 N. Belt Line Road. For more information, visit dayspringfamilychurch.org or call 972-399-7729.
