This year, the City of Irving again joins forces with various community organizations to appreciate the men and women of the armed forces.
Veterans Day Ceremony
11 a.m. Nov. 11
Auditorium, 801 W. Irving Blvd.
The Irving Veterans Memorial Park Committee will host a Veterans Day program with music, moments of reflection by military personnel and remarks by city officials. Following, attendees will convene at Veterans Memorial Park, 644 Rock Island Road, to affix a wreath to the Wall of Commemoration.
Unite for Troops Veterans Day Celebration
10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 14
Porter’s Army and Navy, 600 E. Irving Blvd.
Enjoy music, food, games, crafts and more at the Unite for Troops Veterans Day Celebration. Attendees of all ages can participate in the patriotic/military costume contest. In addition, the American Red Cross will be on-site to receive blood donations from attendees and in keeping with the tradition of this Irving-born charity, care package donations will be accepted at this event (new items, original packaging). Last year, more than 400 care packages were sent to Kandahar, Afghanistan. See this year’s wish list below.
