Only 20% of charities have received at least 2 consecutive 4-star evaluations, indicating that Irving Cares outperforms most other charities in America. This “exceptional” designation from Charity Navigator differentiates Irving Cares from its peers and demonstrates to the public it is worthy of their trust. Supporters of Irving Cares should feel much more confident that their hard-earned dollars are being used efficiently and responsibly when it acquires such a high rating,” says Michael Thatcher, Charity Navigator President and CEO.

Charity Navigator, America’s premier charity evaluator, highlights the fine work of efficient, ethical and open charities. Their goal is to provide donors with essential information to give them greater confidence in the charitable choices they make.

Irving Cares has received nine 4 Star ratings since Charity Navigator was established.

“It’s important our donors trust that we’re using our funding wisely to accomplish the mission of Irving Cares,” says Teddie Story, CEO.  “Our 4-star Charity Navigator rating demonstrates to our supporters that we take our fiduciary and governance responsibilities very seriously.”

About Irving Cares
Ensuring that the most basic human needs are being met is an important measure of a city’s quality of life. It is what Irving citizens believed 58 years ago when they founded Irving Cares, and it is still true today.

Since 1957, Irving Cares has offered a hand up, not a handout, for Irving families in crisis. The agency served 13,726 unduplicated clients in the Irving community last year, and the need continues to increase. By providing limited financial assistance for rent, mortgage, utilities, transportation to medical facilities, and information and referral, Irving Cares promotes a client’s self-sufficiency.
