Congressman Kenny Marchant showed his appreciation of scouting by hosting his 11th annual Eagle Scout Ceremony Monday at the National Boy Scouts of America headquarters. The event was part of a week-long celebration of Eagle Scouts, the highest ranking in scouting.
Marchant welcomed 51 scouts from the 24th Congressional District who attained the rank of Eagle Scout over the past year. Each Eagle Scout was recognized. About 300 guests attended.
“Collectively, these young men contributed hundreds of volunteer hours.” Marchant said. “The community has benefited from their service, and they will gain from these experiences.”
In addition to the scout recognitions, a keynote speech was provided by former U.S. Congressman LTC (Ret.) Allen West.
“You have to stand for something, or you’ll fall for anything,” stated LTC West when speaking about character.
Five of the Eagle Scouts are from Irving. They are Christopher and Emmanual Adesanya, Davis Benn, Jack Rau and William Starr.
