Children’s Health plans to acquire Our Children’s House at Baylor, the only pediatric focused facility of Baylor Scott & White Health’s operations in North Texas.
Earlier this month, Baylor said it planned to close the Our Children’s inpatient facility and move care to outpatient clinics.
Dallas-based Children’s Health said this is the first time it has made a deal such as this to acquire a program, although it has worked collaboratively with Baylor over the years.
With the new deal, Children’s Health will lease the main inpatient facility on Baylor’s campus near downtown Dallas. Children’s will also assume leases for outpatient clinics in Allen, Frisco, Grapevine, Irving, Los Colinas, Plano, Rockwall and Waxahachie.
“Our ability to assure continuity of care for this highly vulnerable population will benefit the children of North Texas now and over the long term,” Christopher Durovich, president and CEO of Children’s Health said in a statement.
The deal is expected to close on or about Sept. 15. The current staff at Our Children’s House will join Children’s Health.
“This is an exciting development for Baylor and Children’s as it’s going to allow both organizations to focus on their respective strengths,” John McWhorter, chief operations officer of Baylor, said in a statement.
With roughly $7 billion in annual revenue, Baylor Scott & White is the largest not-for-profit health system in Texas. Annual revenue at Children’s Health exceeds $1 billion.
