Irving's Memorial Day Service to Honor Fallen Service Personnel

Presented by City of Irving

In honor of all our nation’s fallen heroes, Irving is hosting a free Memorial Day service at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 24 at the Central Library Auditorium, 801 W. Irving Blvd. As part of the service, City Manager Chris Hillman will speak about Memorial Day and the important role it plays in Irving. In addition, a moment of reflection will be led by Sergeant Benjamin Taylor McClure, U.S. Marine Corp.

The service is being coordinated by Irving’s Memorial Park Committee and will feature a presentation of the colors by three Irving high schools and a performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner” by Dalton Holder. The Silvertones, under the direction of Woody Schober, also will perform during the ceremony.

Following the service, a reception will be held at Veterans Memorial Park, 644 Rock Island Road (located next to Central Library). The reception will conclude with a prayer, the playing of “Taps” and the laying of the wreath by Patricia Petell, Ms. Mature Irving 2014. All are welcome.
