The Irving Police Department supports Special Olympics Texas through the Law Enforcement Torch Run program.

Officers raised thousands of dollars through T-shirt sales and events such as tip-a-cop and penny drives.

Over the past few days, Police Department employees have run to several Irving schools to collect the donation buckets and thank the students personally for their support. The schools that participated were Barton, Britain, de Zavala, Elliott, John Haley, Thomas Haley, Houston, Johnston, Lee, MacArthur, Nimitz, Pierce, St. Luke’s, Stipes and Townley.
