Robert Martinez

Dear Fellow Board and Chamber Members,

Some of you may be aware that every Wednesday from 8 to 9 a.m., there is a meeting of community opinion leaders called the Henry Holmes Breakfast Forum at the Las Colinas Country Club.

This is an informal gathering to which all are welcome and at which community leaders, governmental officials, corporate leaders, and residents share news about Irving and Texas.

This Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2014, is a good example of that kind of information sharing. Attendees will hear an update about Parkland Hospital. Dr. Fred Cerise, Parkland’s new CEO has indicated his desire to make the presentation, but given the many pressing issues facing Parkland, we may instead hear from one of his upper management designees.

I attend as often as I can along with a number of your fellow current and former Board Members, including Al Zapanta, Tom Trotter, Rick Lindsey, Arnold Martin, Rick Stopfer, Lori Bunger, Luis Spinola and others attend whenever they can.  They all view the HH Forum as a multipurpose opportunity to stay up to date on issues affecting Irving, to bring news of the Chamber’s great work to these opinion leaders, to foster the community relationship the Chamber needs to further its work on behalf of Irving businesses and to network.

If you can make it, please join us next week for the Parkland presentation and come back as often as your schedule permits.

The always good Breakfast Buffet is optional and only costs $10.  You need not be a member to attend.  People start to gather at 7, but the program officially starts at 8 a.m. with a hard stop at 9 a.m.

Thanks and I hope to see you there.
