From July 30 through Aug. 17 shoppers can visit any North Texas Kroger to donate a pre-packaged school supply kit for $7 or contribute money at the check stand to help local students. The collection drive aims to equip thousands of children with the necessary tools for a successful school year. Last year’s program was record-breaking and $310,393 worth of school supplies was collected in 19 days.
“Educators around the region cite proper school supplies are vital to academic progression,” says Gary Huddleston, public affairs director for Kroger. “Many families in the area have difficulties purchasing school supplies for their children. Stuff the School Bus helps to fill the gap and alleviate the burden that is frequently placed on teachers to provide adequate supplies at their own expense.”
The collection drive give the community the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of disadvantaged students to help them maximize their learning potential.
The program will benefit school districts in Irving, Arlington, Dallas and Fort Worth.
