It’s a little more than a month before North Texans can (finally!) take light rail trains to DFW International Airport. But Dallas Area Rapid Transit gave media a train ride on the Orange Line to the airport station on July 9.
Construction crews are still putting the finishing touches on the station, which sits just outside Gate A10. It will open Aug. 18. Andrea Boughton, who lives along the Orange Line, can’t wait. She flies out of the airport about once a month and dropped her daughter off there this morning for a flight to Chicago.
“I would have rather used it this morning than to drive,” she said.
The pending opening is considered a major bragging right in Dallas’ quest to deem itself an international city.
“This really does connect a lot of people to major employment centers,” said DART president and executive director Gary Thomas. “It connects a lot of people to the world.”
