In 2014, Kroger is investing significant capital to remodel two existing stores in the community, including the location at 2201 West Grauwyler Rd. in South Irving.
During the four-month renovation, the store will undergo a head-to-toe transformation. A focus includes increasing the selection of grocery products, and natural and fresh foods. The$3.5 million remodel will also incorporate energy-efficient changes to food cases, refrigeration systems and electrical designs. To help expedite the check-out process, the remodel will include the addition of new register lanes.
“Kroger is committed to offering customers in the Irving-Las Colinas area with the best stores, prices, products and shopping experience,” said Gary Huddleston, director of consumer affairs for Kroger Co. and 2014-15 Chairman-Elect for the Irving Chamber.
Kroger Co. acquired the former Barnes and Noble location at the MacArthur Park Shopping Center for its expansion in November 2013. The company is investing $13 million in the remodel and expansion of the Las Colinas location. Kroger has already completed the expansion of its popular fuel center, adding eight more fueling stations to the center at MacArthur Park.
The West Grauwyler location’s remodel is expected to be complete in September 2014. A ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of the remodel will be announced at a later time.
“Kroger’s significant investment in Irving will have a positive impact in our community,” said Shawn Callaway, Interim President and CEO of the Irving Chamber. “Kroger’s upgrades to the Irving and Las Colinas stores, will provide new jobs and enhanced products and services for our residents.”
Within the next 24 months, Kroger will build six new stores and expand three locations, along with opening multiple fuel centers and remodeling existing properties in the North Texas area.
Earlier this year, the Irving Chamber named The Kroger Co. Best Grocery Store and Outstanding Chamber Corporate Partner.
