Free Archery Clinic: The Irving Police Athletic/Activities League (IPAL) is offering a free archery clinic for ages 10-18 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. April 29 at IPAL, 1550 Rock Island Road. No registration required; however, parents or guardians must sign a waiver. For more information, visit irvingpal.org.

North Texas LPGA Shootout Free: The LPGA Shootout is taking place from May 1-4 at the Las Colinas Country Club, 4400 N. O’Connor Road. Tournament organizers are inviting members of the public to attend, and are offering the following:

  • Children ages 18 and younger will be admitted free
  • High school students with a valid ID will be admitted free
  • Military personnel with a valid ID will be admitted free
  • College students with a valid ID will receive a 20 percent discount

Tournament tickets for adults ages 18 and older are $25 for a daily ticket, or $75 for admission to the tournament from April 30-May 4. Tickets to the clubhouse hospitality venue also are available and start at $200. To purchase tickets, visit ntshootout.com/tickets.

Irving International Concert Series: Irving’s Parks and Recreation Department is showcasing six music genres from around the globe during the 2014 International Concert Series. The free, outdoor concert series kicks off with by Brave Combo, who will be playing Polka music from 7 to 8:30 p.m. May 9 at Whistlestop Plaza, 200 Main St. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and/or lawn chairs for seating. For more information, visit irvingevents.org.

Fire Hydrant Flushing: Fire hydrant flushing will occur throughout the city through April. Irving firefighters flush hydrants to check for proper water flow and pressure, and to ensure hydrants work properly in case of emergency. State and federal agencies require water utilities workers to flush fire hydrants to circulate water and remove rust and other debris from lines. For more information, call (972) 721-4857.
