La Cima Club presented One Irving with a $13,712.99 donation on March 11 at its Gold Circle of Excellence Award celebration.

The donation is One Irving’s portion from the 2013 La Cima Club Charity Classic event, a one-day charity event throughout the ClubCorp family of clubs around the nation.

The funds will support Irving students through One Irving — a five-year initiative of the Greater Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce to raise $3.1 million from the private sector to benefit students in Irving schools.

“The La Cima Club Charity Classic reflects ClubCorps’s commitment to building relationships and enriching lives by supporting great nonprofit organizations in our communities,” Mike Goff, La Cima Club general manager, said. “We are so proud to have partnered with One Irving this year and hope these funds will help the team make a positive difference in the lives of Irving students.”

Since 2007, ClubCorp’s Charity Golf Classic has supported Augie’s Quest, which works to find a cure for Lou Gehrig’s disease; ClubCorp’s Employee Partners Care Foundation (E.P.C.F.), a nonprofit fund established to help employee partners of ClubCorp’s family of clubs; and a local charity selected by the a local club board.

One Irving was selected by the La Cima Club board as the 2013 event’s local charity.

Joy Goodrum, Irving Chamber’s staff liaison for One Irving, accepted the donation at La Cima Club.

“I want to thank you all for supporting the One Irving campaign,” Goodrum, Chamber director of education and workforce development, said. “Your hard work to raise these funds will help Irving students in and outside of the classroom.”

One Irving funds programs, such as STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) and AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination), a college readiness program, for students in the Irving Independent School District.
