HOLT CAT® and the Caterpillar® Dealer Excellence Fund continue to support career development and training of specialized technicians by contributing approximately $50,000 to technical programs at 11 schools across Texas in 2013. Since 2012, HOLT and Caterpillar have made grants for more than $100,000 to schools in Texas for training in areas such as heavy equipment, diesel engines and electric power generation.
Recipient schools include: Texas State Technical College in Waco; South Texas College in McAllen; St. Phillip’s College in San Antonio; MacArthur High School in San Antonio; Medina Valley High School in Castroville; Laredo Community College in Laredo; Skyline High School in Dallas; Kilgore College in Kilgore; Dubiski High School in Grand Prairie; Cedar Valley College in Lancaster; and Birdville High School in North Richland Hills.
“Technical education and training is a fundamental building block to HOLT’s future success and the success of our communities, said Peter J. Holt, HOLT CAT General Service Manager. “The Dealer Excellence Fund is a great program that helps build awareness of the value of technical training and career opportunities in vocational trades for young people, who are the backbone of our future.”
The Caterpillar Dealer Excellence Fund was established in 1989 in a partnership between the Caterpillar Foundation, Americas Distribution Services and participating dealers like HOLT CAT. HOLT strongly supports the training and education of technical students and hopes to increase the number of qualified technicians in the field to meet industry needs for these specialized employees. The grants may be used for scholarships, faculty development, training aids and equipment. Schools are evaluated and selected based on the strength of their technical programs. Currently HOLT has approximately 110 open positions for trained technicians across 20 service locations.
