The school district’s board of trustees are scheduled to vote Monday to fill the vacant District 6 position left by Norma Gonzales. Gonzales resigned in August after she was arrested on a shoplifting charge. Irving ISD did not immediately return a request for more information about the appointment. In September, the board voted to appoint someone to Gonzales’s position rather than hold a special election. Applications were accepted between Sept. 17 and Oct. 30. Monday’s appointee will serve on the board until May 2014. The trustees meet at 7 p.m. in the Irving ISD board room, 2621 W. Airport Freeway.
