Valley Ranch Library will soon add 5,000-square-feet of undeveloped space to its current facility. For the expansion, the library will close from Jan. 2 to Feb. 28. Programs will meet at the nearby Cimarron Recreation Center, 201 Red River Trail, during the renovation.  Library Services Director Chris Dobson said there will be lots of changes.  “When Valley Ranch customers return this spring, there will be additional tables and seating, a second quiet room and a new digital creation lab for teens and adults that we call ‘The Green Room,’” Dobson said. “We’ll also have a new projected floor feature where children can literally walk across an interactive coral reef complete with faux fish. When kids try and grab the fish, they will move out of the way — it’s something you’ll have to see to believe.” During construction, Valley Ranch Library patrons are encouraged to visit other Irving libraries and to take advantage of online resources.  And for fans of Java Me Up, the coffee shop offering delicious drinks, sandwiches and pastries that’s next to the library, don’t fret. The shop will only close from Jan. 6−10.
