In observance of Veterans Day, the public is invited to the following events honoring the service of veterans and those in the armed services.

Veterans Day Ceremony

1:30 p.m. Nov. 11 (Monday)
Central Library Auditorium, 801 W. Irving Blvd.

The Irving Veterans Memorial Park Committee is hosting a Veterans Day program for the public. The commemorative event will feature music, moments of reflection by military personnel and special remarks

by city officials. The color guard will be presented by Irving, MacArthur and Nimitz and high schools. Following the ceremony, attendees will convene at Veterans Memorial Park, 644 Rock Island Road, to affix a wreath to the Wall of Commemoration.

Unite for Troops Veterans Day Celebration

10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 9
Porter’s Army and Navy, 600 E. Irving Blvd.

Enjoy music, food, games, crafts, a bounce house, reptile exhibit and petting zoo at the annual Unite for Troops Veterans Day Celebration. USO and Unite for Troops volunteers will be collecting items for USO centers at DFW Airport and in Afghanistan. Following is a schedule of event highlights.

  • 11 a.m. Children’s ’60s and Military Costume Contest
  • 2 p.m. Salute to Our Veterans Presentation
  • 3 p.m. Joshua Experience Orchestra
