It’s been a year since Atlanta-based Gables Residential received the nod from Irving to get started on its much-anticipated mixed-use development in Las Colinas. Now, the developer of Gables Water Street — which will soon-be-developed across O’Connor Boulevard from Williams Square — will soon get underway on the project’s initial phase, which includes more than 60,000 square feet of retail shops and restaurants. Gables has been looking forward to working with the City of Irving on the project for its long-term success, said Gables CIO Ben Pisklak. The project will include a park for special events, such as a farmer’s market or festival and public pathways with access to Lake Carolyn. The following retail and restaurant leases have already been signed: Olivella’s Neo Pizza Napoletana, Twisted Root Burger Co. and The Londoner Pub. Gables says it expects to make further announcements in the next few weeks on new deals for tenants, such as a national gastro-pub, a local taco concept, and a new sushi restaurant. Retail Street Advisors is leasing the development’s retail space. WDG Architecture is the architect of record on the project. Studio Outside is the landscape architect. Kimley-Horn is the civil engineer. SLJ Interiors is the project’s interior designer. The development’s initial phase is expected to be completed in mid-2015.
