Irving residents have the opportunity to drop off controlled pharmaceutical substances for proper disposal as part of the National Take Back initiative. There is no cost to participate.

10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Oct. 26:

  • Walmart parking lot, 4100 W. Airport Freeway
  • Walmart parking lot, 1635 Market Place Blvd.

The program is a partnership between the Irving Police Department, Drug Enforcement Administration and other participating law enforcement agencies. Improper disposal of these medications can lead to unintentional use by babies, children and pets.

This is the second National Take Back Initiative to be held in Irving this year. In April, 341 pounds of controlled pharmaceutical substances were collected for proper disposal. For more information, call Sgt. Joseph Palomar at (972) 721-2545.
