Irving Cares’ main resource for food procurement is the North Texas Food Bank. On Tuesday, the NTFB released an urgent plea to the public for food, volunteers and funding. When the NTFB’s inventory is low, Irving Cares is forced to purchase its own food at retail costs.

Last year, Irving Cares provided groceries to 9,600 Irving families. The food pantry needed 817,000 pounds of food and only 285,000 pounds or 35 percent was donated.

To host a food drive for Irving Cares, a list of items needed, make a delivery or pick-up, call Kyle Taylor at 972-721-9181 extension 209 or email
