The Dallas Business Journal reports the Japanese security and software company Trend Micro has leased 51,000 square feet of space at 225 E. John Carpenter Freeway, Suite 1500. The location will house 220 employees and business units, including threat research, finance, legal, customer support, commercial sales and marketing, and human resources. The relocation allows Trend Micro to consolidate some of its operations in Cupertino, Calif., and Arlington to a central location.

According to the article, Kevin Simzer, senior vice president of marketing and business development, said Trend Micro wanted to be in an area with easy access to a major airport, space to grow and a market with a large tech talent pool. The company, which employs 5,000 people, also is announcing a community initiative that coincides with its 25th anniversary. Trend Micro is launching an educational grant program that will provide each recipient with $25,000 in cash, software and technology to keep students in grades K-12 safe online. The first recipient is the Irving Independent School District.
