The regional BizFest competition sponsored by the Ford Motor Company Fund is being held this week in Irving ISD at de Zavala Middle School from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The awards Presentation will be Thursday, June 13 at 3:30 p.m.
BizFest Training and Competition is an innovative and intensive entrepreneurship program that teaches high school juniors and seniors how to turn hobbies into profitable business ventures. Delivered by the University of Texas – Pan American (UTPA), BizFest is a signature program of the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) Foundation.
Irving ISD Superintendent of Schools Dr. Dana T. Bedden remarks, “It’s always important for our students to get real world experiences and opportunities to think outside the box and beyond the classroom. We want our students to have dreams and aspirations beyond high school and BizFest helps us enhance that motivation.”
The top three winners of the competition will be awarded iPads. Winners are also invited to attend the USHCC 34th Annual National Convention, September 15th-17th, 2013 in Chicago, IL to compete against other regional BizFest winners at the 2013 National BizFest Competition.
