Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings will join Jim Vella, president, Ford Motor Company Fund and Community Services, to announce a major, new program with North Texas Ford Dealers to support critical community needs.

As part of this commitment, hundreds of local teen drivers are invited to participate in free Ford Driving Skills for Life hands-on clinics with professional drivers on April 5, 6 and 7. The award-winning program is aimed at reducing teen fatalities by providing hands-on training in advanced skills that address major contributors to traffic crashes involving new drivers. A recent report by the Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA) shows that teen driver fatalities are on the rise among drivers aged 16-17.

During the event, Ford also will deliver two Ford Explorers to Irving Independent School District, and award a Ford Transit Connect van to the North Texas Food Bank.

The event will be held on Friday, April 5, 10:30 a.m. at the Fair Park Dallas (Enter Gate 13; look for large tent and DSFL signage).
