The City’s unemployment rate for the November report is 5.3%. The numbers are favorable to the State unemployment rate of 6.2% and the national rate of 7.7%. Irving’s unemployment rate has not been this low since October 2008. The city and the Chamber of Commerce have been working together for years to recruit new businesses and to retain the ones that are already there. As a result, about 30 companies relocated to Irving or expanded during the past fiscal year.
