Animal Services Receives Award – Irving Animal Services received the Texas Animal Control and Welfare Agencies Award at the annual conference held Nov. 10-14 in Houston. This award is only given to cities that meet or exceed their standards. Criteria for the award includes, having an effective employee development program; be involved in public awareness; having made improvements to their facility; proper handling of animal enforcement; efficiency of personnel; and a letter from the DSHS regional veterinarian to attest compliance with the Animal Welfare Act.

Irving Community Television Network Popular on YouTube – New statistics provided by YouTube provide insight into the usefulness and interest of ICTN videos. In November, viewers spent 34,092 minutes watching videos on the city’s YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/thecityofirving. ICTN offers nearly 700 videos on YouTube, and users find that they can be shared easily through Facebook and other social media sites. In addition to YouTube, ICTN maintains a video on demand service available through the city’s website, and three cable television channels.
Strategic Goal No. 8: Sound Governance
Malcolm Baldrige Award – The City of Irving has received the prestigious 2012 Malcolm A. Baldrige National Quality Award. The Baldrige award is the nation’s highest presidential honor available in the business community, and is highly esteemed by organizations across the country. The City of Irving makes history as the first municipality in the State of Texas to receive the award and the second municipality in the nation.
