Toy Drive: The Police and Fire departments are again hosting the Blue Christmas Toy Drive. Donations of new, unwrapped toys for children ages 1–16 (gifts for teens are most needed), as well as canned and box food items, can be dropped off at any Irving fire station through Dec. 16. Drug and Violence Awareness Summit: Come and learn how to protect yourself, your family and your community from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 15 at MacArthur High School, 3700 N. MacArthur Blvd. Also find out how you can Get Involved! with the schools and community to address and attack drug and violence issues. There will be parent sessions, free childcare, and refreshments. Free bus transportation is available at 7:15 a.m. from Elliot and Hanes elementary schools, Austin, Bowie, Lamar, and Sam Houston junior high schools, and Nimitz High School. Free Gift Wrapping: The Irving Public Library will sponsor holiday gift wrapping services provided by the Young Adult Action Council (YAAC) and student volunteers with the All Wrapped Up program. Take some of the hassle out of holiday preparations by bringing gifts to the Central Library, 801 W. Irving Blvd., between noon and 5 p.m. Dec. 22. All Wrapped Up will offer a unique selection of wrapping paper styles. Gift wrapping service is limited to 10 items per person and will be available while supplies last. Hot chocolate and cookies will be served. Gift wrapping for oversized items will not be available. For more information, call (972) 721-2606.

Pet Fostering Opportunities: Hundreds of homeless dogs and cats are in need of a loving family this holiday season. The Irving Animal Care Campus, 4140 Valley View Lane, is offering pet fostering opportunities from Dec. 22 to Jan. 2.
