October’s luncheon celebrated National Women’s Small Business Month with interactive networking and also featured a chance drawing for a Fossil purse benefiting the Women’s Alliance scholarship fund. Through the generosity of attendees, more than $200 was raised to help provide scholarships to deserving high school girls who will be going on to college next fall.

Don Williams, director of business retention and expansion for the Greater Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce spoke briefly on the Chamber’s new relationship with the Government Contracting Small Business Development Center, an agency of the Small Business Administration. The Center will work with the Chamber to provide training to businesses seeking to do business with governmental entities and provide individual counseling to businesses in completing their responses to request for proposals (RFP). Attendees also got the opportunity to give a 30-second commercial about themselves and do hands-on networking. Plenty of business cards were exchanged as attendees got to know each other better and build new relationships.

If your organization is interested in sponsoring a luncheon, contact the Chamber at 214-217-8484 for more information. For more information about the upcoming Women’s Alliance Luncheons, click here.
