Trash Bash Results – Keep Irving Beautiful staff, volunteers and sponsors celebrated the 21st Annual Trinity Trash Bash at Trinity View Park on Sept. 29. Nearly 400 volunteers donated 900 hours, and collected 4,540 pounds of litter and 620 pounds of recyclable material despite heavy rain. After the cleanup, volunteers enjoyed a free lunch and were entered into a drawing for prizes. Watch video.

Tech Startup Leader  Irving now ranks third in the nation after Fremont and San Jose—Silicon Valley cities—in technology startups per capita, surpassing Austin, which ranks fifth. The city’s creative approach to developing incentive packages, the ability to partner with Irving’s big businesses and airport accessibility all contribute to the success in attracting high tech companies. The data and analysis came from SizeUp, a San Francisco-based provider of free business intelligence for small and mid-sized businesses.

 Construction Valuation – During FY 2011-12, the Inspections Department issued 15,684 permits with a total construction valuation of $498,932,269. This total includes permits for 422 new homes.

National Night Out – To promote police-community partnerships, the Irving Police Department hosted National Night Out on Oct. 2. More than 40 neighborhood associations and apartment complexes participated in the event this year.
