Starting October 31, the fourth and fifth grade mentors at Thomas Haley Elementary School
will be pairing up with students from the dual language kindergarten to conduct a “Cents for Sandy” change drive. These students will be collecting money to donate to the victims of Hurricane Sandy. The kindergartners and fourth and fifth graders will make joint announcements on the morning KTHE campus news at 7:45 a.m. and then will go to classrooms to collect and count the change, and add up the totals collected per grade level.
There will be a competition to see which grade level raises the most money between now and November 16 and that grade level will be awarded a popcorn party. The students will give an update on totals each day during the morning announcements. At the conclusion of the drive on November 16th, the money collected will be turned into a donation to be given to the American Red Cross to help those people affected by Hurricane Sandy.
