Leadership Irving Scholarship: The Greater Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce would like to honor the Military Veterans of Irving by offering two full-scholarships for the upcoming Leadership Irving-Las Colinas Program. The program works to further develop participants professionally while networking with some of the top influencers in the DFW area. The class will be held from September 2012 through April 2013 on the first Friday of the month. Application deadline is August 20. West Nile Virus Update: The Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) is urging people to take precautions to reduce the risk of contracting West Nile virus, a mosquito borne illness. If you have questions regarding vector control issues please call the Hotline at (972) 721-3755 and a Vector Control Specialist will assist you. Planning Excellence Award: The City of Irving has received a Certificate of Achievement award for Planning Excellence from the Texas Chapter of the American Planning Association. This is the fifth consecutive year Irving has received this recognition. The city’s continued commitment to providing training to the Planning and Zoning Commission and staff, along with our ongoing planning efforts have earned Irving this recognition.
