As the summer winds down, construction crews are busy completing several construction projects at Irving ISD schools. For those who live by Crockett Middle School on Airport Freeway, a helicopter that’s been flying around is placing HVAC units on the roof since it’s less expensive than using a crane. Crockett will have a new main entry and expanded administration area, and other updates.

Sam Houston Middle School on Country Club is also getting a new main entry plus library and science wing renovations. New floors and new ceilings and a second floor corridor connector are part of the renovations.  John Haley Elementary on Schulze is getting classroom and corridor enhancements, renovations to its cafeteria and gym and additional parking. F. M. Gilbert Elementary on Pioneer will get a special needs classroom addition plus other updates.

Farine Elementary on Metker will have its cafeteria and gym remodeled and classroom and corridor enhancements. Lively Elementary on Plymouth will have a corridor connector to the gym, new flooring, a new public address system and other updates.  And, throughout the district, a roof replacement/repair plan is being implemented in phases because of the hail damage received in May. Another district-wide improvement is placing water fountains within cafeteria walls. Texas state law now mandates that water fountains be located within cafeteria walls.
