7-Eleven, Walmart, and Best Buy, announced the formation of Irving-based Merchant Customer Exchange in order to develop mobile-payment technology. MCX is currently developing a mobile application or mobile wallet, with a focus on making it convenient and operational across many retailers. Local companies like 7-Eleven Inc., Michaels Stores
and Alon Brands, have joined the likes of Best Buy, Walmart, Sears, Shell, Target, Lowe’s and Darden Restaurants to form the company. MCX plans to announce more members in the next few months.
