Michaels, North America’s largest arts and crafts specialty retailer, announces it will open a new flagship store in its Irving hometown located at 7635 North MacArthur Blvd. in the MacArthur Park Shopping Center. The store, opening July 22, features a new design that focuses on providing creative inspiration, fresh new products and an enhanced shopping experience. The new store features an open design with wider aisles, warm colors and brighter lighting. Key departments, such as scrapbooking, jewelry and kids are expanded and re-organized for easy shopping
“We’ve been a corporate citizen of this community for decades, and it makes sense to open a flagship store here in our hometown,” said Michaels Executive Vice President of Store Operations Nick Crombie. “We look forward to introducing our Irving customers to the new store design and our vast array of innovative, inspiring products for their next creative projects.”
Grand opening festivities kick off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on July 22 at 9:45AM with Irving Mayor Beth Van Duyne and the Irving ISD Drumline. In-store events include craft demos, giveaways and a prize wheel. The first 100 customers in line will receive a $10 Michaels gift card and the store will randomly distribute thousands of dollars in gift cards to Michaels customers throughout the day.
Outside, a tent show will offer a preview of new products, free make-it-take-it stations, and an appearance by Tippy the Crayon and Glossy from Mod Podge. Things heat up in the afternoon with a live “Craft Wars” challenge from 1 to 4 p.m., based on the new Michaels-sponsored reality show on TLC.
As part of Michaels’ community outreach, the new store will also host a card-making event during the grand opening celebration and donate craft supplies to benefit the local Starlight Children’s Foundation chapter.
