State government
officials and Dallas energy businessman T. Boone Pickens will speak Thursday at
a Texas Conservative Coalition Research Institute forum focused on the state’s
energy policy. The think tank is holding the forum at the Irving Convention Center
from 1:30PM to 3:30PM.

Topics at the forum will
include the state’s electricity generation, transmission and distribution
infrastructure, the benefits of the state’s deregulated electricity market, and
the development of natural resources “in light of the increasingly challenging
regulatory scheme of the federal government,” the group said on its website.

Scheduled speakers
include Pickens, Republican office holders Comptroller Susan Combs and Railroad
Commission Chairman Barry Smitherman, and Republican state representatives
Linda Harper-Brown of Irving, Kelly Hancock of Fort Worth, Cindy Burkett of
Mesquite and Stefani Carter of Dallas.
