Fire Chief Mario Molina wants everyone to
remember that SMOKE ALARMS save lives –install and maintain them. ***According
to the National Fire Protection Association, roughly two thirds of home fire
deaths happen in homes with no smoke alarms or no working smoke alarms.***

Please keep these safety tips in mind:

Install smoke alarms in every bedroom,
outside each separate sleeping area and on every level of the home.

Test alarms at least monthly by pushing the
test button.

Replace all smoke alarms when they are ten
years old or sooner if they do not respond properly when tested.

Smoke alarms should be INSTALLED away from
the kitchen to prevent false alarms. Generally, they should be at least 10 feet
(3 meters) from a cooking appliance.
