The unemployment rate in Texas has fallen to 7.3 percent in January, the state’s lowest jobless figure in nearly three years. Irving’s unemployment ticked up in January to 7.0% from 6.3% in December but is still favorable to the State’s unemployment rate and the national unemployment rate of 8.3%.

The jobless rate in January is the lowest since April 2009. Texas added 67,200 nonfarm jobs in January and nine of the 11 major industries in Texas added jobs, led by professional and business services with 18,100 jobs.
