Last week the GILCCC Government Affairs Committee unanimously adopted a recommendation for the City to amend the so-called “60:40 Ordinance” concerning restaurant food and alcohol sales in Irving. The proposal would revise the food and beverage sales ratio to 40:60 for restaurants and help address burdensome reporting requirements.
A coalition of restaurant and property owners are seeking the amendment to better reflect actual price inflation for their products in recent years. In addition, the proposed reporting requirements would create more certainty for businesses and eliminate enforcement inconsistencies.
The Chamber’s Board of Directors will consider the Committee’s recommendation at its March 27 meeting. If approved, a resolution would be forwarded to the City Council for their consideration.
