As the chief
financial officer for the State, the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts
monitors trends that affect the State’s bottom line. One of the most
significant factors increasing the cost of doing business in Texas and in the
nation is the spiraling cost of health care services.

In March of 2010, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act was passed at
the federal level, with the promise of reforming the nation’s health care
system. The Comptroller’s Office has designed a survey to gauge the impact of
federal health care reform on businesses.
